Focus deteriorating...effort is shortfalling...Unable to do anything true...guilt count RISING!
I wonder if any lawyers who've done despicable acts feel like this...Seeing how my mind is all wrecked, I should go ahead and make amends. Hopefully, things will go right.
Just so this won't be a total waste of a journal....
[link]THIS SECTION WILL BE DEVOTED ENTIRELY TO /mu/ BECAUSE I LOVE /mu/.On music that is solely catchy:
"Thats the thing.....we dont live in a time where it's catchy anymore, we haven't had a Mr. Jones or Semi-Charmed Life since the actual songs came out. Every beat related song is based around generic beats used because a lot of people would like them, instead of being for musical purposes. The "rock" songs use generic riffs with lyrics that appeal more to 90% of 15 year olds/all soccer moms more than someone who actually enjoys music."
"right, but music doesn't need to be pop-music kind of catchy to be enjoyable to sing along to, right? Hell, I hum along to my webern all the time and it's great, and I guess I could do it to something like lady gaga, but if the music's boring to begin with, singing along to it won't really solve that problem, will it?
I don't see how catchiness is related to musical enjoyment."
"Cause all those bands are supposedly on the cutting edge of music. You have to understand that most people outside of /mu/ think that those are some groundbreaking, amazing bands. We're better than that though. Those bands all suck but people will gobble up whatever the fuck is in the top 40 at any given time or supposedly "alternative" these days.
e.g. Blink 182 and Nirvana have sold tens of millions of records, neither one's more popular work is that good but people are like "LOOK @ ME AND MY ALTNESS" for having these. Casuals don't know shit about Minutemen or TBIAPB"
"it's pop music for 16 year old girls, it's not meant to be good"
On sampling:
"I've got no problem with sampling if it's used creatively, it can be used as an instrument in its own right to create original, interesting music.
But when people literally just take the main riff to a song and loop it for three minutes, make no other alterations, and then just rap/sing over it? That shit is just fucking lazy, Kid Rock. Lame."
"Fuck you, sampling is motherfucking chemo. Using old music in new ways not only brings the old music to a new audience, but it also does a lot for the progression of music as a whole, blending and advancement of genres, etc. not to mention that hearing a song you love sampled in an awesome way is like a musical orgasm. Anyone who is antisamples can just fuck off.
Protip: Just because Watcha Say sucks doesn't mean sampling sucks. If a good song is sampled in a bad song, don't fucking listen to it. It kinda sucks when it happens but it's not like the song becomes unavoidable."

The more you know the less you have to believe. If you know enough you believe everything and anything.

I want to mix our blood and put it in the ground so you can never leave.
I would like to see you try.

Catchiness of a song does not indicate the quality of the song.
